Filigree jewellery is an ancient metalsmithing technique from Medieval times.

There are many different styles of filigree, of which, Pamela is concentrating on the Russian open backed technique, which has been handed down through generations. Also, she is designing a Norwegian style filigree line, based on their traditional costume accessory which is part of their National dress.

Pamela plans and draws out the frame-work on paper, but makes the filler wires different each time, creating a unique piece of jewellery - “One of a Kind”.

Sterling silver wire is used for the frame-work which is soldered then filled with Fine silver wires.

The filler wires are twisted, and milled, so the frame-work can support the delicate filler wires.

Once the piece has been constructed, then using vegetable compounds, the frame is smoothed and polished. Depletion gilding of the frame will keep it bright and shiny, while the filler wires should remain white.  This is a typical filigree finish.

Hallmarks for Sterling silver (925) and Fine silver (999) plus Pamela’s Logo (S) is stamped onto each piece for authenticity of quality,

Care of your Silver jewellery

Too keep your beautiful silver piece in “as new” condition, please do not use harsh cleaners but use warm, mild, pure soapy water. Once dry, polish the Sterling silver ONLY, as Fine silver does not tarnish. You want the twisted Fine silver filigree filler to remain white. Use a jewellery cloth to gently buff off tarnish to bring the Sterling silver back to a beautiful shine.

Enamelled objects have been used since ancient times

Enamelling is the art of fusing glass by heat, to a metal surface. Applications can vary, for example, using sieved powders, wet packing, stencilling and painting..

Pamela uses a kiln to melt the glass, although a torch could also be used. Average temperatures range from 750 degrees C to 950 degrees C, and can take only minutes to fuse the enamel to the metal, for the acquired effect you would like to achieve.

Other projects can be, Cloisonné, Pique-a-Jour, and Champlevé to name a few.

Enamels do not fade.

NEVER wear them in your shower, when swimming or in a sauna.

Care of your Enamelled Artwork

With your beautiful “One of a Kind” enamelled piece, it should only be hand washed with warm, soapy water.  Buff when dry.

Note: NEVER wrap your enamelled artwork in bubble wrap.  It will mark the surface of your piece.
